As a parent, a sibling, a former teacher and a conflict specialist, Kathleen knows what bullying looks like from all angles, and the ripple effect it creates through families, schools, and communities. Through her studies and her work with families and educators around the world, she has developed simple tools and frameworks that bring an end to bullying.
Kathleen studied the Concurrent Education program at Queen’s University. She has a Masters in Education from Brock University, where she focused on aggression, bullying, and peacebuilding techniques. She also has a Certificate of Conflict Management from Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo, and is an accredited General Mediator.
Kathleen has spent more than ten years as a teacher in Ontario’s public school system. During her time as a teacher, she worked with both elementary and secondary school students, and was always working to make school a more positive place for everyone. She was a vocal advocate for inclusive spaces, which led to real institutional change for students who were indigenous and those who were a part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
In addition to teaching inside the classroom, she has also spent a decade in outdoor education, and travelled all over the world while doing it. She has worked with disenfranchised youth in Nunavut, learned about sustainability in Kenya, and worked with underprivileged youth in the Tim Horton Youth Leadership Program and the Brantford Boys and Girl Clubs.
